January 2019 Newsletter

January 2019 Newsletter

Happy New Year!! I am writing this on Christmas Day and all the cards, cookies and cooking are done!  The family visits and work parties are done; now it’s time to relax and get ready for 2019.

So, members I have a task for you.  Please go to our website, and find the tab for Who We Are.  Click the tab, then find Electronic Notifications and click.  Here, I ask you to sign up for our email notifications.  (You may sign up to receive as many clubs’ notifications as you wish.)  The goal here is to relieve Sue Williams and Velma Doyle from being available when any of us need to send an announcement out to our members. Right now, they keep email lists of our club members and I rely on them to send notices out for me.  Paulette relies on them to send notices out for banner activities. SO, for this new option, I need your help!!

Additionally, from the same page, right below the area in blue for electronic notifications, in the pink area, please provide us with your name and cell phone number.  This service will allow us to send you a text notification for urgent situations, such as dance changes or cancellations, caller changes, or any other information that can’t wait for email.

Our regular January Dance is January 25, 2019 and this dance will have a Baked Potato Bar!!   Ed Laudenschlager is calling and Mark Johnson is cueing.  We will recognize our Honoree, Mary Bailey, at this dance with cake!

Don’t forget our December Dance is after the Christmas Holiday on December 28th.  The theme is “The Year in Review.” We will have lots of pictures from Ray Owens, our Media Chair. If you have 2018 pictures, please bring them! We will have a treat with Scott Brown, his son Shawn Brown, and Lisa Minton calling; Chuck Berry will be cueing. The Board decided at the December meeting to make this dance a hi/lo.

And with that, it’s time to say…… get out and DANCE!!

Lynn LeMaster

Wish these dancers a Happy Birthday when you see them in a square!

Our membership holds at 36 members. We are working on a Supplemental Roster.

We had a very nice time on November 23rd at our Turket Trot Dance.  Jason Raleigh and Dave Blaskis did a great job calling and cueing. With 25 guests and 19 members, we had 4 squares on the floor all evening. Dixie Squares came for a banner activity and they filled our Rounds Floor!  The Food Table was wonderful again!  A special Thank-you goes out to Marcia and Lois for the food they brought!  Fun dancing for everyone!

Three of our New Dancers have already paid for the second session of Lessons. Two have paid on-line (check it out at:   ).

Class will start back on January 8, 2019. We are moving into the Plus calls already!!

I’d like to thank you for the delicious food you brought to our November dance. We had a wide variety and our dancers were well fed. I am hoping your generosity will continue for our future dances.

I’d also like to extend a very sincere thank you to Marcia Taylor. Your food donations are very much appreciated and we all know the time, effort & love you put into making them.

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas, enjoy your family & friends and remember the true reason for the celebration.
