November 2018 Newsletter
MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT LYNN LeMASTER:
You still have time to vote for our Club Honoree. We have two nominations: Mary Bailey and Ray Owens! Both are Board Members of the club; Mary is our current Secretary and Ray is our Media Chair. Both have been VERY busy this year! Ballots were out at our September Anniversary Dance and they will be out again at our October Halloween Dance. If you cannot attend the October dance to cast your ballot, then please email me your vote at: firstname.lastname@example.org
There will be a Recycle Sale at the November 2nd Orbiting Squares Dance. Velma, Fred and Paulette bring all the square dance clothes that are jointly owned by Bucks & Does and Orbiting Squares. We need your help with set-up, selling, and tear down of all the clothing. Please arrive by 6:00 pm if you can help. There are always a lot of great bargains at these events!! This is a hi-lo dance and an opportunity to meet the New Dancers!!
There has been a heightened interest in the food table during the last several months. We now have a former caterer amongst us, Marcia Taylor!! She brings dinner for husband, Terry, and all the rest of us!! I think the September Dance was chicken pot pie; not one but four!! Members and guests managed to eat two and a half of them!! Way to go Marcia!!
Our Yellow Rock Dance is just around the corner, Sunday, November 11, 2018. Location is the Eastpointe Christian Church in Blacklick; time is 1:30-4:30 pm. Tom Davis is calling and Phyllis Burdette is cuing. As a special dance, members pay too. Pre-sale ribbons are available for $7 per person; price is $8/person at the door.
Our November Dance is the day after Thanksgiving on the 23rd of November. Our theme is the Turkey Trot Dance!! Jason Raleigh will be calling and Dave Blaskis will cue. Come burn off some calories from Thanksgiving!!
Don’t forget tonight is our Monster Mash with Mark Clausing and Chuck Berry. Dress as a character from the Monster Mash song that Boris Karloff performed. I listened to it on YouTube!! There will be prizes for a few costumes!
And with that, it’s time to say…… get out and DANCE!!
Wish these dancers a Happy Birthday when you see them in a square!

Our membership grew by three! Ned and Marquell Segelken joined at the Anniversary Dance. Jack Hagerman surprised everyone at the October 16th lesson and rejoined. He has been absent a few years, but ready to get back on the dance floor!! That takes us to 36 members!
We had a very nice time on September 28th at our Anniversary Dance. Former member, Jeri Peterson, came to visit; she is 94 years young!! Charter member, Lois Krull, shared a few memories of the club’s history with everyone. With 25 guests and 22 members, we had 4-5 squares on the floor most of the night. Susan Kemp picked out a great chocolate cake with our 43 years on it! Everyone brought great food for the rest of the table. Fun dancing everyone!
Lessons with our six New Dancers are going well. They are all young and quick to pick it up. Ed has us moving right along on the basic calls list. We will have a class on Tuesday, October 30; but no class on Election Day, November 6.
We celebrated our 43rd anniversary at our dance on September 28! A very good dance, good friends and cake!
