As of the July 9 Board Meeting, we are still at 32 members for the 2018-19 year. Velma is working on the Club Roster and we hope to get it out to everyone by the end of the month. We may move towards a paperless roster for 2019-20, by putting it on our website with password protection. Any thoughts??
We had a great time on June 22nd at our Summer Solstice Dance. There were 15 members present and 27 guests. We all enjoyed dancing to Roger Steele and Linda Warren, with four squares on the floor all evening. Thanks to everyone that brought snacks.
I mentioned in last month’s Newsletter that the Board was working to secure a different location for lessons. Board Member, Dave Van Dyk, connected with Billy at Maize Manor UMC. Dave and I met with Billy on Tuesday, July 17th, to see the facility. The address is 3901 Maize Road, one block south of Cooke Road. The Fellowship Hall has a new hard wood floor, kitchen availability, no stairs, lots of parking and a well lighted lot. It is in a nice neighborhood. The rental fee is the same rate we have been paying. Their Trustees meet August 6 for the formal approval; Billy will let Dave know on August 7th of the approval. In the meantime, we asked if we could put on a demo with their congregation after a Sunday service. That opportunity is still in the works. So, everyone, keep your fingers crossed!!
Lessons will still start on September 4, the day after Labor Day, with Ed Laudenschlager as our Instructor. Time will be 7-9 pm.
RECRUIT!! RECRUIT! RECRUIT!
We are still asking for your thoughts on recruitment ideas!!
The Board is looking at creative ways to save this activity. 1. Focus on teaching Basic and Mainstream only for a 12-week class. 2. Start over in January for another 12-week class. We discussed starting Mainstream Dances in January on the second Fridays.
We could reward our members with payment to bring and keep New Dancers.
We could charge New Dancers for the Session, then reimburse them if they attend all lessons; or no charge, then pay them if they attend all lessons.

SINGLE SQUARE DANCERS USA NEWS
Good news! If you have not yet registered to attend the 48th Dance-A-Rama festival on Labor Day weekend in Indianapolis, IN, you now have the opportunity to do so on line using your credit card. A new feature, Weave The Ring, has been added to the SSDUSA website: http://dar2018.ssdusa.org/. Now you can register for the festival, sign up for tours and purchase souvenir shirts without having to download a form or write a check. (Of course you can still view and print a registration form, fill it out and mail it in with your check.)
Three deadlines are coming up quickly: August 1 is the last date to register for the Dance-A-Rama before the price increases by $5.00 per person. To get a room at the Westin Indianapolis Hotel you need to book your room by August 8 to make sure of receiving the discounted price. (After that, the Westin does not have to honor our special price.) If you want to book any tours, the deadline is August 26. (The tour sign-up deadline given on the Registration Form/Flyer, July 14, was incorrect.)
We hope you are planning attend the DAR and have your dancer friends join you there. ALL dancers, whether couples or solos, are welcome! Just look at what we have to offer! We have a great line up of callers (Tom Miller, Mike Hogan, Tim Tyl, Tom Davis & Travis Cook and cuers (Phyllis Burdette, Cathy Fisher & Pauline Angress). There will be five different halls and none of the dancing will be on carpet. There will be square dancing programmed for you whether you dance Mainstream, Plus, DBD, A1 or A2. There will be rounds from levels II through V or VI. Also, there will be line dancing and after parties led by Doug & Donna Riley. All of the halls are on the same level; and if you stay at the host hotel, you will be close to the action. We are offering five terrific tours, and we will have a clothing vendor and badge vendor. If you haven’t sent in your registration, signed up for tours, or made reservations at the Westin Indianapolis, NOW is the time to act so you will not miss out on the fun.
